We Weren't All Beheaded: Just found this awesome site.

As a costumer by trade, I was looking up designs for my wedding gown when I came across Go Fug Thyself.

It describes itself as:

In tribute to Go Fug Yourself, we document the horrors of poorly-researched, poorly-made, or just plain fugly medieval and Renaissance costuming. We’re limited to professionally made costumes, and no cheap Halloween products, unless something goes so far beyond taste and common sense that anyone should know better than to make or wear it.

And is an extremely funny site for SCA members, costumers, or people who love seeing when we let the WRONG people try to do pro costuming. It’s like CakeWrecks for costumers.

This is an awesome website! I just went through it all.  I’ve seen some horrible reproductions but some of these top the list.

Here’s an example of proper skull anatomy in a professional anime. I just wanted to provide this to illustrate how to properly draw an anime skull and to prove that anatomy in anime/manga is very real. It does exist, and this is how it looks.
As you can see, the teeth on the inside of the mouth and the jaw are actually much larger than people seem to think, despite the small appearance of the mouth on the outside. This is true in real human anatomy as well. The nasal cavity opening is also slightly higher than the tip of the nose. This is because the bridge of the nose is often downplayed on anime characters and the tip of the nose is mostly cartilage so it does not appear on the skull.
Hope this helps you skeleton drawers.

medik:

so my house got robbed last week and we lost about 10k~15k worth of items and in that includes a box of spare keys. in it included keys to all three of our vehicles. one car’s engine isn’t working, one car is with my brother and the third, our truck, is with my parents and i. we were warned there is a possibility the robbers will come back so we were just starting the process of trying to get our truck rekeyed.

well, last night, our truck was stolen.

i love my parents and it hurts me to see that they’ve lost so much. i’m 17, and jobs are scarce in my town unless i work out a special school schedule and i really can’t do that. but i want to help instead of sitting by idly and watching my parents stress over it like i have for the past week. i never really liked the idea of commissions because i feel that my drawings arent worthy of money but i’m desperate right now. i will work really hard on every drawing to make sure that it is worth your money i’m so sorry

i don’t want to just ask for donations, so i think the best thing to do will be commissions and i have set up a button on my blogs.

of course, my art can be viewed here and here.
oh my god all my sample art is fanart sorry :(

this would mean a lot to me and my family if you could please, please help; or even just spread the word. thank you so so so much

i can negotiate prices, i am honestly not sure how much i should even price them and if you think i should change them talk to me!!

artist-confessions:

I’ve been taking a break from drawing to see if my wrists will heal, but it’s still scary.  I never realized I was so horrified of losing my ability to draw.  Even though I’ve only stopped for a few days, I’ve been extremely restless; I feel like a part of me is missing.

Too all artist out there: you have to take breaks from drawing from time to time, otherwise you might hurt your carpal tunnel.
Pro tip:if i hurts, then don’t draw, it most likely means that your wrist is strained and needs rest. If you keep drawing even thou it hurts you might in worst case scenario get chronic carpal tunnel problems and you seriously don’t want that.
So if it hurts when you use your arm/hand/ankle etc then dont use it! Give your body time to heal.

It’s My Style - Not A Bad Thing?

artist-confessions:

Lemme explain, and before people come at me with various… ahem, colorful responses, read the following paragraph first.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a style when it comes to drawing. But, it doesn’t hurt to learn the basics (anatomy, posing, etc.) so that your style can look great.

HOWEVER, the whole “it’s my style” thing got ruined by 13-year-olds (and quite a few not-so-13-year-olds) falling back on that to excuse every little thing wrong about their drawings.

Because of that, it now seems that having a style is bad, and that anatomy in all drawings have to be 100%, or the artist is automatically considered to be butthurt to every little thing that could possibly be considered as critique.

I have a style. Yeah, “it’s my style”, I know. BUT, I do want to improve on it, when it comes to anatomy, posing, and other things. It used to be that I wouldn’t take critique… but that was a LONG time ago.

That’s my take on “it’s my style”. Now to wait for people coming after me, as it’s to be expected here.
